QuestionQUESTION: hi..i am a little confused by pregnancy dates. on feb23 i had intercourse with one man...after this i never had intercourse with him. i received my period the following day...it was regular... i received my period the following month on march 25(roughly during that week)i then found out that i am now 20 weeks pregnant, which would put my conception date at april 10(roughly)...but i am confused by who the father of my child is because i know that ultrasound dates arent too accurate. can u help me come to an understanding? thank you
ANSWER: If the first day of your last period was March 25, it is likely that you conceived around April 10th, just as you thought.
Your most fertile time is mid cycle, or two weeks before the start of the next menstrual period. If your periods are regular, and you ovulate regularly, mid cycle is when pregnancy can occur.
Regarding ultrasounds, early ultrasounds are very accurate. There is a larger margin of error in later ones. All in all, ultrasound technology is an excellent tool for pregnancy evaluation.
Here's a quick way to estimate your due date:
Take the first day of your last menstrual period, add 7 days, and count backwards three months. For example, March 25 + 7 days = April 1 minus three months = January 1st. That is your due date (or thereabouts).
If this roughly corresponds to the dates you've been given, then the man you were with in April is the father.
Hope this helps.

QUESTION: this was very useful but i have one more question....in order for me to have gotten pregnant i would have had to have intercourse in april during my ovulation week...right?
AnswerMost likely, yes. When was your first ultrasound and at what gestation (how many weeks pregnant)were you at that time? What due date did they give you?
If they gave you a January due date, then you got pregnant during your fertile time in April.
