Question
i had my first baby at 24 weeks due to short cervix.shes well and perfect now.i recently lost a baby at 22 weeks.it was noticed in a routine scan at 20weeks that my cervix was short and funelling.i had a suture immediately.2 weeks later i went into labor and delivered the baby without my water breaking.she passed away 3 hrs later.
i thought cervical cerclage would take me to full term.i really would like to know what really went wrong becos am planning on havin a baby soon.i dont know if this will happen again.pls pls what really went wrong?

Answer
I am sorry for your loss. A cerclage only helps so much. A cerclage is only one of the things we do to pervent delivery. Along with a cerclage is bedrest, perterm medications to stop contractions and steroid to rapidly mature babies lungs once you get past 24 wks or so. There is only so much we can do with medical science to prevent delivery. If a baby wants to come, it will. Good luck to you!!
