Understanding Negative hCG Results Despite Pregnancy Symptoms | Dr. Response

GOOD DAY DR.,
I AM CONFUSED WITH MY WIFE HCG-TEST.WE ARE YOUNG COUPLE.MY WIFE HAVE BEEN HAVING ALL THE SIGNS OF EARLY PREGNANCY. BUT WHEN WE WENT FOR HCG-TEST, IT SHOWED NEGATIVE. WHY IS SHE GETTING THE EARLY SIGNS OF PREGNANCY AND THE HCG-TEST IS NEGATIVE?

WE SHALL APPRECIATE IF YOU CAN ADVISE US ON WHAT TO DO AND WHAT COULD BE WRONG?

Signs of pregnancy alone do not diagnose pregnancy. Such signs may occur if she is very much eager to have a pregnancy, something called false pregnancy. In this case, hormones from higher centers(brain and hypothalamus) are released and produce signs which mimic normal pregnancy even the abdomen itself grows..exactly as in normal pregnancy.

If you both are having regular sexual relationship for at least 1 year, i would advise to seek consultation from a reproductive endocrinologist. If less than a year and if she is younger than 35, then there is nothing you should worry about. Give it sometime and be assured that it will happen just in time
