So you have decided to start trying for a baby? It is an exciting time full of expectation and excitement. It is no wonder that you are anxious to find out if you are pregnant. Sometimes waiting for a home pregnancy test is just not feasible. You want to know sooner than a pregnancy test would indicate your results. Do not worry. You are not out of luck. There are several signs that you might be pregnant that appear far before you can take a home pregnancy test.
Most often missing a period is a good sign of pregnancy. These may include spotting or a light bleeding that occurs with the fertilization and implantation of an egg. This type of spotting may be brown or pink in coloring, yet many women may have a yellowish discharge. Generally, these signs can happen after five days from fertilization. Some women even have some light abdominal cramping as the embryo implants itself within the uterine wall. This can occur during the light spotting occurrence.
Women commonly find that their body temperature typically elevates during ovulation. However, when your egg becomes fertilized your body temperature can actually stay raised. This is referred to as an elevated basal body temperature. This shift in temperature may only be by a single degree or even less, but it can be a great indicator that you have successfully conceived.
Early signs of pregnancy can mirror the signs of an upcoming menstrual period. This is why some of these symptoms go unnoticed. However, hormone levels begin to change drastically when you are pregnant. One interesting change happening in your body is that of producing HCG or human chorionic gonadotropin. The this hormone causes you to feel the swelling tenderness in the breasts.
Of course, the increase of hormones in your body may lead to more than tenderness in the breasts. You will also feel the need to urinate more often, this is a symptom that will continue throughout your pregnancy. The reason for this is that your growing baby begins to add pressure to your bladder which will cause the need to go to the bathroom more often.
Missing a menstrual period is the most obvious sign of being pregnant, although missing a period can occur besides being pregnant. Things like stress, illness and hormone imbalances are other reasons for missing your period. However, when you are consistent in your menstrual cycle, it can be an indication that you are pregnant.
Since these various symptoms are possible signs of pregnancy, you will want to take a pregnancy test as soon as possible. However, you should know that home pregnancy tests are not always reliable. Therefore, when you are ready to find out if you are expecting a baby or not, you need to consult with your OB-GYN or family physician so he or she can give you a blood test to find out if you really are pregnant or not.
