QuestionHi Helene,
I am almost 5 months pregnant and I have gained 1 pound. I had really bad morning sickness and so I am still trying to catch up with my weight.
I would like to do some exercises to get my strength back up, but I don't want to burn any energy because I need the energy for the baby to grow.
ANy ideas?
AnswerSpeak to your OBGYN about getting a referral to a nutritionist who specializes in pregnancy.
You need to eat the highest quality diet that you can afford, in the correct amount for your pregnancy metabolism. She can determine whether your dietary habits are providing enough nutrients and calories.
If your OBGYN is not concerned about your weight or nutritional status, then most likely she will "green light" you for moderate level activities like fitness walking, swimming, elliptical trainer, treadmill, stationary bike, etc.
Realize that on the days that you exercise, you will need to eat additional calories to make up for what you used during your workout.
