Postpartum Menstrual Cycle: What to Expect After Pregnancy

Question
I gave birth to a girl in Sept. 2007 and still she is on breast feeding. I got my first periods last month after my pregnancy on 5th. But this month I didn't get any sign of periods. Is it possible that I am pregnant again or it is just normal to have irregular M.C

Answer
It is very normal to continue to have irregular menstrual cycles for as long as you are breastfeeding.  Some women get normal cycles back within a year, once the baby starts eating solids and sleeping through the night.  Other women do not get normal cycles back until their baby is fully weaned.

Although you may be having irregular, long cycles, you may still be ovulating, so it is still important to either obtain reliable birth control or monitor your fertility closely if you do not wish to get pregnant again just yet.
