Infertility Concerns: 36-Year-Old Woman Seeking Support - Delayed Pregnancy & Ovulation
QuestionI am a 36 year old woman and mother of a three year old. I am trying to get pregnatn for the past six month. it only took me three month to get pregnatn with my first child. My periods are 27 days long. I have been usuing Ovulation predictor kits to detect my ovulation and I have been getting a surge on day 15 of my cycle. Still not prepgant. I had my period on January 7th and have had intercourse on day 12 and 14 of my cycle. I still haven't seen LH surge however my husband is away for next three days which means I wont be able to have intercourse on day 15 and 16 of my cycle which I think is when I tend to ovulate. Based on the days I have had intercourse do I have a chance of conceiving this month? PLEASE HELP. I am taking prenatal vitamins, B-complex to help with my luteal phase, Flax oil nad folic acid. Thanks
AnswerDear Gta
I do not think you have a fair chance to get pregnant this cycle. In fact, it is very important not to have pregnancy programmed the way you are trying to do. In many occassions, this worry may stimulate the higher centers in your brain (the hypothalamus) to prevent ovulation.
I understand that your husband may not be there all the time but trying to arrange to have intercourse on, or close to the days of ovulation is not desirable. My advice is just to relax and have sex when desired. Usually 80% of normal couples achieve pregnancy in the first 6 months of attempting pregnancy and 95% of normal couples would achieve pregnancy rate after year of regular intercourse.
Good Luck
