Early Pregnancy Ultrasound: What to Expect & Understand
QuestionHi!I just found out in about 4.5 weeks pregnant.I had an ultrasound done and all they could see was the gestation sac,no yolk,or anything. Is this normal?
AnswerHi April,
Yes this is completely normal and to be expected at the age you are at. Your little baby is there but it is just so tiny that it can't be seen on the ultrasound yet. The yolk sac will appear between 5 and 6 weeks gestation. The fetal pole (aka baby) can be seen between 6 and 7 weeks. Make sure to get a follow up, if not already scheduled, in 7 to 10 days. Congratulations and best wishes!
Sincerely,
Sara
