Irregular Periods: Causes and What to Consider

I've had my period for a month straight( lightly bleeding the whole month no cramps) then 2 weeks later I'm on my period again with cramps and heavy bleeding.normally i have my period every 3 months and then i start for a week. What could it be?

           You don't give me any indication that you are or thought you may be pregnant, although if your cycles are that infrequent it would suggest you're not ovulating.

I would see your GP to make sure there is no underlying factor - 3 months between each period is very long!
