Understanding High Protein & RBC in Urine with Symptoms: What Does It Mean?
Questioni just received my lab results and the protein in the urine was high with a value of 10mg/dl and rbc :2.0mg/dl and squamous epith: 386/lpf and prolactin values of 37ng/ml. my doctor said i was fine and i have nothing to worry about but I've been having fevers, fatigue, palpitations and they say him just panicking. whats the truth?
AnswerThe results that you listed here don't seem to really match your symptoms of fevers, fatigue, and palpitations. Protein, blood, and squamous epithelial cells in your urine can indicate a urinary tract infection, which would cause symptoms such as (rarely) a low grade fever, urinary frequency, and lower back pain. Also your prolactin value doesn't agree with your symptoms. I'm not sure of your gender, prolactin values are higher in females than males. So 37 may be normal if you're female.
