Clomid & Infertility: Understanding Experiences and Next Steps

Question
Hi! I have had infertility issues my whole life and I have taken all of the drugs around. The problem that i have is that I took Insulite in January and ended up pregnant in March which I did not find out until I went to the fertility doctor for my first check-up. I had a miscarriage a week after I found that I was pregnant which was at 6 weeks. I have taken already one dose of provera and clomid 50mg. I did not ovulate and it is really frustrating becuase I do not want to continue on the clomid if it will not make me ovulate. Should I go back to the insulite which gave me a viable pregnancy or stick with the clomid and try higher doses?>

Answer
Hello,

I am afraid I can't counsel regarding the "insulite."  I don't know anything about it and will have to research it a little.  It is not a mainstream medication.  I presume that you have anovulatory cycles i.e. don't have regular menstrual cycles.  For that reason, your doctor is prescribing Clomid?  The most common reason for not ovulating is an ovarian disorder called PCOD.  About 80% of PCOD patients do not respond to even high dose (250mg per day) Clomid and have to move on to the injectable medications.  If you did not respond to Clomid before, then I would not advise going on it again.  Instead, I would advise that you see a fertility specialist.  If the insulite helped you to ovulate before, then it might be worth trying again.
