QuestionHello
i had difficulties getting pregnant with baby #1, but after 10 months concieved naturally had a normal pregnancy. Tried for baby #2 concieved in 2 months, but lost the baby at 13 weeks was told that the baby stopped developing at 11 weeks. No problems with hormones, no DNA abnormalities.
Tried again 2 months after miscarriage. Tried for 5 months and nothing except that my cycles were very short. Instead of 28 days as per usual, each cycle was about 25 or 26 days.
Went to fertility doctor he checked me and said the the folicle looked good and he hormones were fine, but all this a little early in the cycle day 9. He said that LH was low. He gave me ovidrel and then said to follow up with endometrin.
I took hpt on day 14 and one was positive and one was not. Went in for blood test and there was an initial positive, but doc had me come in for another test and this showed that I wasn't pregnant. I don't understand what's going on? If all my tests were fine why did I need ovidrel? Also could I have caused this because I didn't always use endometrin 3 times a day, always two but not three?
Do I have luteal phase problems? Is this related to the miscarriage?
AnswerHello Tammy from the U.S.,
It seems that you had a chemical pregnancy, which is a very early miscarriage. It is possible that it is due to a luteal phase defect, which is inadequate progesterone support after ovulation. Progesterone (Endometrin) is important for implantation and support of the pregnancy until the placenta starts to produce its own (6-8 weeks gestational age). If you too two tabs each day, that should have been sufficient, but three is the usual dose. The miscarriage may not necessarily have been a result of the progesterone and maybe due to an abnormality in the embryo.
Don't freak out over this. You will eventually succeed. Just keep trying and follow your doctor's instruction.
