QuestionHi there - I am on cd11 and took clomid cd 4-8 this cycle. This is my second round and the first was a 26 day cycle (I am usually 28 days consistently,) had u/s yesterday at 10dpo and had 5 visible follicles, the largest measuring 20mm, the others at 15 and under.
My question is, if I were to have the hcg trigger today or tomorrow, are there any potential negative side effects in the small possibility I have already ovulated and am unaware. (unfortunately my ob was not in yesterday, only the u/s tech, who is not trained in RE issues.)
AnswerHello Jennifer from the U.S.,
With a lead follicle of 20 mms, you could take the HCG today or tomorrow. I would not go past tomorrow. Waiting until tomorrow might allow the 15 mm follicle to reach ovulatory size (16 mms), which will increase your chances of pregnancy, but if you wait longer than that, the egg in the lead follicle will over-mature and not be viable.
I would think that it is unlikely that you already ovulated, but there is not way to know that exactly.
