Tubal Ligation Complications & Access to Care: Medicaid Assistance

Question
Hi, I had my tubes tied since 2002. I been having problems with my body every since i can't take it no more i want to get them untied and get some other kind of birth control i am unemployed and don't have any insurance. Is there any kind of way medicaid can pay or help pay to get them untied that will save my life.

Answer
Hello Pamela from the U.S.,

Medicaid probably will pay to have you evaluated and treat whatever problems you are having since the tubal ligation, but it will not pay to have them reversed.  Tubal reversal, in general, cost $8000-$20,000, depending on how it is done.
