QuestionQUESTION: hi my names paigen, i live in the north west of britian, my question is, is it normal to feel movement in the stomach area when you have pcos? i have a sort of pulling stretching sensation in my lower stomach, it happens everyday, my periods are almost regular, they dont always appear around the same time each month but they do come every month, me and my partner have been trieng for a baby for 3 years, back in march of this year i started my period on the 23 which is the usual day but the next day i started getting severe cramping across my stomach and back pain, i thought i was in labour the pain was so bad. i did a pregnancy test earlier this year in january and it came up a very faint posotive but then when i took one the next day it was negative. i feel so silly when i go to the doctor because i feel like im making a fuss out of nothing. is movement in the stomach normal or is my body just weird?
thanks
paigen
ANSWER: Hello Paigen from "Britian",
No it is not normal to feel any abdominal "movement" with PCOS. In fact, PCOS patients don't feel anything. PCOS is a hormonal/ovarian disorder. If you are having severe cramping with your menses, it is possible that you have a disorder called endometriosis. It is also possible that you are feeling your intestines move, which they do constantly, although this is uncommon. If you have not been able to become pregnant after 3 years, you have an infertility problem. I would recommend that you go see an infertility specialist. They will do testing to find the source of the infertility, and make a proper diagnosis of PCOD if that is what you have, and maybe they will find the source of your abdominal sensation.

QUESTION: hello again. ive never had any pain during my period apart from that one time. also tonight after id had a hot cup of tea i felt very strong movement in my stomach, i could also see it moving from the outside, it didnt feel like gas, it was more towards the surface of my stomach around my belly button, usually its under my bellybutton and isent as strong as this. i can feel it really strong. i didnt feel the need to pass wind or use the toilet. is it possible to be pregnant and have a period? my period which ended at the weekend lasted for 2 weeks and it stoppped and started and was heavy and sometimes light, iam heavy round my middle naturally due to losing weight and putting it back on but my stomach feels hard underneath the surface especially around where my ovaries are. i can feel the movement stronger when i lie flat and only slightly when i stand up, also when i prod my belly after the movement stops it starts again. thankyou for taking the time to read this

AnswerHello Again,
I can't figure what it might be other than intestines. If you were pregnant enough to feel and see movement, you would be pretty far along and there would be no question that you were pregnant. I would strongly suggest that you go see your gynecologist regarding this. I think this warrants and exam and possibly and ultrasound.
