QuestionI am writing from Ohio and my fiance and i have been trying to have a baby for over year it seems that i cant get pregnant. About 2 years ago I had an abortion and for about 9 months after that i was on the depo birth control shot. We try about 3 times a week and even on my periods, which are regular, and i still haven't got pregnant. I need to know how toget pregnant or what might be going on that i cant get pregnant. Thanks for your time, I am hoping to hear back from you.
AnswerHello Mackenzie from the U.S.,
The only advice I can give is directions for using the calendar method to time your intercourse. There is only a 12 hour window each month where fertilization can occur, so having intercourse all month long does not increase your chances of pregnancy. The calendar method goes as follows:
Cycle day#1 is the day that you start your period. Mark this on your calendar then count each day (for example, cycle day#2 is the next day and so forth)
CD#10 - stop intercourse. You can have intercourse all you want until that day but stop completely on that day.
CD#13-17 Have intercourse each of these days, only once per day, and only one ejaculation per episode. This is your fertile period. Ovulation should occur during this period.
CD#18 on - Have intercourse as you normally would.
Technically, since you have been trying for over one year, you would be classified as having an infertility problem. My second recommendation would be for you to go see a fertility specialist for an evaluation. That way the reason for your not getting pregnant can be identified, and the appropriate treatment recommended.
