QuestionHi! I am seeing a reproductive endocrinologist for 4 months now. They have done many test to me and my husband and everything turn out good. (HSG, semen analysis, hormone test, ultrasounds) I was adviced to take clomid 50 mg for 2 months now and I have not get pregnant yet. We've been trying to get pregnant for 5 yrs and the doctors cannot find any problem with us. Can you tell me what is wrong with me? Thank you, I will appreciate your answer to my question.
AnswerHello Jen from the U.S.,
Of course I cannot tell you what is wrong with you by the internet. But, have you done a laparoscopy to check for pelvic adhesive (scar tissue) disease or endometriosis? In my patients, I have found that in 99% of cases where the initial evaluation reveals no abnormalities, endometriosis is usually the culprit. The only way to find/make this diagnosis is to have a laparoscopy. If you don't want to have the surgery, the alternative would be to go directly to IVF so that the pelvis (the area where the endometriosis lies) is bypassed. Keep in mind, however, that 1% of infertility patients will not have a diagnosis that we can find, and we label these patients with the diagnosis of idiopathic infertility. It is not that there is nothing wrong, rather, we probably don't have the understanding or technology to find the problem. Again in this case, IVF is the treatment of choice.
Good luck,
