QuestionMy son is 25 years old, since August 03, he has been getting boils, which turn into an abcess. They get hard and very painful, until they bust.
He has no medical insurance, so he is unable to see a doctor. I did take him to my doctor, he was put on antibotics and the doctor took some pus form the wound, that had burst that morning.We use Dial soap and apply hot compresses to the area. He now has one on his knee, which looks awful. It has opened in a few areas, expelling a pus and blood mixture. He gets one every month. HELP
AnswerHe needs to be on a prolonged course of antibiotics... there are some choices that are relatively inexpensive, such as Keflex 500 mg three times daily for two weeks. The soap is good. Also, bactroban 4 times a day rubbed into each nostril. (Some people are carriers in their nose.
