Slow Metabolism & Weight Gain: Exploring Solutions & Hereditary Factors

Question
Hello Roni!
I am a 45 year old male,no conditions, and very active.I do have two problems that I suffer from, and several doctors have basically said there is nothing they can do.
The first one is my very slow metabolism.I average 1500 calories a day,and work out and walk a lot,but I am still visibly overwight with a prominent belly.I am stating to think this may be a hereditary cindition because my father was the same,as is one of my children.Your thoughts?
Second, although I have had several tests that I have passed,I constantly suffer from stiff, sore muscles and joints.Exercising helps, but I dont have time to lift weights every day-a couple times a week if I am lucky.Have you encountered this condition? Thanks for any help!

Answer
Hello Barry.  I think you may have solved the first problem yourself.  Some of us just have bad genes.  It causes us to store fat in certain places we may not like.
A Physical Therapist or Personal Trainer would best address this matter for you.
Your sore muscles may be directly related to the extra weight you are carrying and/or the work you do.
Speaking of work if you have a sit down job that could contribute to your weight and your stiff muscles.
There are conditions that can cause sore stiff muscles.  From Arthritis to Lupus.
You will have to get firm with your Dr. to run test to know if you are suffering from these conditions.
Good luck to you.
