Emergency Birth Control: What to Do After a Pill Mix-Up

I have beed really sick they past few weeks due to a terrible head cold. (I'm positive I'm not pregnant) Anyway, being sick and having medicine head some how I got my BC pills messed up. One day I looked down and was taking Thursday's pill on Tuesday. Also, the last active pill in my pack was a Friday and not Saturday. (I'm on a Sunday start schedule) Well... I stopped taking them all together and waited for my period. I got my cycle today (Monday) my questions is... Can I start my new pack prior to Sunday? They say the reason you start your pack on a Sunday is so you don't get your period on the weekend. For some reason that doesn't work for me. So can I start earlier? Like on Thursday or Friday? What are the side effects?

Hi Jennifer,

You can start earlier, but remember, for the best protection start your second pack WITHIN the first 24 hours of your period starting. Don't wait any longer than that, or the pills will not work for the next pack. If you cant take it within those firt 24 hours, you should wait until Sunday.

All women get their periods at diffrent times, so starting on Sunday doesn't mean it wont come on the weekends.
