Yeast Infections and Thongs: A Doctor's Perspective

I tend to get quite a few yeast infections. I heard that it can be caused from wearing thong underwear. I wear thongs during the day and regular cotton underwear at night. Do you think that is the cause?

I really doubt that the thong is the cause unless the strap gets too far into the vaginal opening setting up an irritation. Yeast infections are based on a change in the normal external and internal flora usually from some other cause like bubble baths, antibiotics and excessive douching. The best test is to stop wearing the thong for a month or two and see how it goes.
