Sounds a lot like a hiatal or paraesophageal hernia.  A condition in which part of the stomach is in the chest.  My suggestion would be to see your doctor for either an upper gi series or evaluation by a GI specialist.

Smaller meals more often can help, as can antacids and anti-gas products (simethicone).  Not a substitute for seeing your doctor, however.

so not return of my ulcer i guess. thank you - i'll check it out. would gravol help in the meantime?

Answer
Your symptoms are not typical of an ulcer, though that doesn't mean there is not an ulcer developing.  Conservative treatment would usually begin with antacids (Gaviscon, Tums, Rolaids, Mylanta, Maalox, etc) or anti-acids (Zantac, Pepcid, Omeprazole, etc), even if an ulcer were suspected.

My preference would be for something like Gaviscon or Mylanta, since they contain both an antacid and anti-gas (simethicone) ingredient.
