QuestionMy mother is 85, has a strong heart, but needs a walker to get around. She has scoliosis, and bends forward and to the left. The physical therapist she's working with tells her to practice standing up straight by looking into a mirror. I don't think that's going to help. Isn't scoliosis incurable? What types of exercise should she do to strengthen her legs?
AnswerRonda,
Scoliosis is incurable, but proper posture will help prevent further loss of function.
As far as exercise in general, practice walking and getting about is the best I can offer. The issue is preserving your Mother's independence and function. I would address those specific questions again with the PT.
