QuestionMy son said that it is important to expose his children, boy 2 1/2 and girl 13 months to colds and flu to build up their immunities to these illnesses. Is this true?
AnswerHi Elaine,
In a word, NO. There is no evidence to support that exposure to these viruses confers any immunity whatsoever. Flu in young children can be deadly. I would STRONGLY suggest that he not do this. In fact, legally, that sort of behavior borders on neglect and cruelty.
