Anaphylactoid Purpura (Henoch-Schönlein): Managing Symptoms & Work

Question
I am a 25 yr. old working mom of 4.  A few days ago I was diagnosed with anaphylactoid purpura.  I have had the rash and symptoms for about 3 weeks and just started steroid therapy.  The therapy helps some, but my job as a bartender requires me to be on my feet for 9 hours a day.  On days I work, my joints become very painful and the rash gets worse.  On days off, things are better.  It is not possible for me to take off work for the duration of the symptoms. Any suggestions as to ways to relieve some of this discomfort while waiting this out?

Answer
Hi Nicky as thanks for writing,

I am not familiar with your condition, nor could I find much information on treatments as most sites simply say it usually clears up with no treatment or simple AntiInflammatories or Steroids.

I would suggest common sense if you really can not take time off. Drink lots of fluids, take medications as recommended by your doctor, get lots of rest and see if your employer can find other work for you for a few days, or job share with another employee or at least allow you to rest (get off your feet) for 5-10 minutes every hour.

I know many people who have had success with Magnets for inflammatory conditions and if you are interested I would recommend Nikken a they make reliable products. If you use my name you can get a discount at http://www.5pillars.com/magnify4health/ (NB: I do not make a commission or any compensation from this, I'm just passing along information I hope is of use for you).

I hope this helps and I wish you all the best,
