Red Bumps on Lips: Causes, Symptoms & Relief

About two weeks ago I suddenly started getting small red bumps on my lips...in the middle and also tiny tiny ones along the outer edge of my lower lip. They are itchy and they burn. I am not sure what caused them. I have had no previous problems with my lips at all and was wondering if you might be able to tell me what could be wrong and what I can do about it? The bumps come and go and some days I don't itch at all and some it is very itchy and burning. I would appreciate your help. Thanks:)

Hi Emily and thanks for writing,

I recommend that you go see your family doctor. I'm guessing of course, but you may have Herpes which can come and go and be very itchy and painful - but the good news is it's treatable. Youb really want to treat it as it's also very contagious.
