Persistent Anal Itch: Causes, Relief, and When to See a Doctor
QuestionI am a 37 yr old wonman with a 2 yr old child. Starting from this winter, my anus becomes very itchy. I have to put cortisone on my anus after each shower. I have tried to put just lotion or white petrolatum on my anus but it still itches. Now it's almost summer, the itching still didn't go away. My shower habit is always the same. I notice my anus is dry and there is a little piece of haemorrhoids always sitting there(starting this winter). Could it be irritated and cause the itching? How can I make the itchy go away? Also, my husband said that his anus is irritated by his loose bowel. When he doesn't have loose bowel, his anus is fine. What do you think? Thanks!
Answeranal itching is from 3 most likely causes... 1) hemorrhoids, which come and go 2) a fungal infection- that should be treated with lamisil cream and talc powder to keep it dry. it may take 3 wks to get it better. 3) possible pinworms, a parasite, unlikely in an adult.
Hope this helps....try treatment for 2) and see a doc if that doesn't work
