Hormone Clearance After Stopping Promethium & Lowrostol - Post-Hysterectomy

Question
i was recently on promethium and lowestral to decrease post menopausal bleeding. i stopped them due to side effects of blood clot and had a hysterectomy. how long will it take for the  synthetic hormones to leave my body. i am on coumadin age 57

Answer
The hormones are out of your body within a few days.  It's difficult to know exactly how long after you stop them that the increased tendency to blood clotting is gone.  Women who are having major surgery are advised to stop the pill 4 weeks before surgery, to be sure all effects have disappeared.  I would say most effects are gone within a week, but some may take up to 4 weeks to be completely gone.
