Why Do We Burp? Understanding Gas and Digestion

I was wondering would you please explain to me: what makes us burp?

Dear Cameron,

Basically, we burp because we have gas that needs to escape from one end or the other!

Anytime you eat, you swallow small amounts of air.  The faster you eat, the more air you swallow.  Combine that with pop----gas that you drink----and burp!
