Gliclazide & Metformin Dosage: Understanding Timing & Optimal Use
Questionage 50 weight 98 height 5.7 + after failure in alone metformin Dr has prescribed gliclazide 80 mg with metformin 500 mg combination twice a day....some dr say that this drug should be taken with meal and some say that before 30 minutes...why different openion for dose time?
further I have started with half dose with 3 times meal instead of full dose 2 times meal because I take mild breakfast in morning( at 8.00 am) medium meal in noon( 14.00 hrs noon) and dinner medium control diet in evening arround 7.30...so with close supervision of accucheck maschine further plan will be arranged after 10 days..pl confirm my action and guide me in details..(.I have never sugar figure so high like more than 250 even after excessive food intake without medicine and my HB AIc always below 6.5 since DM II detection)

Chronopharmacology is sometimes important, but twice a day dosing of Metformin is probably best as are most hypoglycemic agents. What is more important than whether you take with or without food is what it does for your HbA1C. Keeing it below 7 is key.
