Light Bleeding: Causes & When to See a Doctor - Healthline

Question
QUESTION: A couple weeks ago I noticed that there was a little bit of light colored blood on the toilet paper when I wiped.  I wiped again and nothing.  Thought nothing of it besides that maybe I was getting ready to start my period early but it didn't.  Once again tonight, the same thing happened - I wiped twice and there was light blood on the toilet paper, but nothing the third time and no blood in the toilet.  Any ideas?  I have noticed that my lower back has been bothering me more than normal...could there be any connection?

Thank you in advance for your help.

ANSWER: prob no relation to the low back.  It depends on your age as to how much workup should be done.... a twenty year old... it is probably anal irritation or hemorrhoids.... a 50 year old, needs to be screened for colo-rectal cancer.  It is a grey zone in between.  Mention it to your doctor to see if they want to do followup.

QUESTION: Sorry, I should have been more specific...I am a 31 year old female and the light blood is when I wipe after urinating, not having a bowel movement.  I have also been having slight nausea and pain in the middle of my right side...not sure if their is any connection with any of it or if there's a couple different things going on??

Thank you again for your help.

Answer
urinary bleeding needs a different kind of evaluation... best case scenario is that this is a bladder infection.  You need an evaluation for this... it may consist of only a urinalysis but you may need additional tests to look for kidney/bladder stones, cysts, tumors.
