Belly Button Piercing: Is This an Infection? Symptoms & What to Do
QuestionI have recently pierced my belly button in very early Oct of 2010 so close to 2 months. I have a stainless steel belly button ring in and I clean it with the sea salt saline solution 2-3 times a day and I wash it with soap once a day. I am able to move the ring up and down with no pain and the area is not red nor does it have any odor. The area is not any warmer than the rest of my body. I am a worried I might have an infection though. There was some yellow-ish discharge that will come out of it. It really freaks me out but everyone keeps telling me that it is normal and its nothing to worry about. Is that true? Or do I have an infection? What is the best way to treat it?
Answeryou don't need antibiotics.... it is a minor infection but will correct as the skin grows from the visible skin along the ring line inside the "hole." that is called epithelialization and takes several months..... as long as not red and painful, you are doing the right treatment.
