Understanding Prostatitis: Causes, Symptoms & Treatment

My daughter found out recently after she got married that apparently her husband has this condition and he has gone to the hosp emergency room several times and antibiotics are given but he does not go to the Dr to be referred to an urologist. I have read a lot of information on this condition and it becomes too much for me to understand as there are many cases of prostatitis and causes including that it could be from an old std, I hope not this is why i keep asking my daughter that he needs to go to the Dr, he always told her he had back problems. What do you think about this condition. thanks.

Hi there Maday, thank you for posting your question. My area of expertise is in human sexual dysfunction. I hope I can be of some small help to you.
Prostatitis is a big subject. Bottom line is though that there is not a great deal known about it nor a great deal that can be done about it either. In the main its one of those things that a man may just have to live with. It tends to peter out over a number of years and does not lead to anything serious. To suggest that it might be somehow linked to STD is, I think, incorrect.
