I had an infected cyst (abcess) for 3 wks, tried to take care of it myself, drained pus out for 2 wks, then I started getting worse, low grade fever around 100, pain got worse, started having severe pain to move my shoulder, neck started hurting started feeling really bad, couldn't eat, kept some fluids down, but still dehydrated. So hubby finally talked me into going 2 urgent care. I saw the P.A. and he wasn't going to do anything but give me anti-biotics & a couple of pain pills. I've had this b4 and they gave me IV antibiotics, lanced it, packed it & checked it, changed packing, dressing etc @ Med Univ. S.C. and I didnt get as sick as I am now! I haven't felt this ill in a long time!!! pus still draining % I am taking excellent care of it, but I feel 10x's sicker, took half of antibiotics, pain is more severe, fever of 103 tp 104 w/chills, havent been able 2 keep anything in me, not even liquids, not sleet in 3 days at all, I am so pale 2day, weak, shaky, dizzy, fell like I am going 2 pass out constantly, even with laying back in recliner, which is where I've been 4, 2 wks 9hurts worse 2 lay flat in bed, last time I had a infection I fot endocarditis, I have run out of pain rx and phenergan, & I took motrin 800mg & I am not supposed to take any NSAIDS period, but I was hurting so bad i couldn't take it anymore, it hurts to move shoulder,head, neck, breast even hurts, and armpit, I need help to even get up now, I don't know if you can get sepsis from this or not, but that is how bad I really feel. I don't feel like I can even get ready for my husband to even take me to hospital, told him Ithink if I need 2 go anywhere I am going to have to call 911 for help. that motrin has now started causing very severe chest & ypper belly pain. What should i do and do ya think i may be right, or do i need better antibiotic's than doxy. I'm ALOT worse now and don't see my dr. til next Wed. I am scared now with the way I feel like this could poss. severely dangerous right now. thank you so much for listening ane letting me inow what ya think and what I should do. AnswerThis is worrisome that you are getting systemic (whole body) symptoms of infection from an infected cyst.... at this point you need to be re-seen and consider more aggressive antibiotics, more aggressive drainage if needed. Possibly IV fluids, possible culture of the wound and blood. With these symptoms, don't wait.... get it evaluated quickly.
