Heart Palpitations and Chest Pain: Causes & What to Do
QuestionI am a 34 yr old male and my heart has been hurting lately and fluttering. This is not a new symptom, it has happened a few times in life. I went to a doctor and he did a blood test and a EGK test. Everything was normal except I had high colestoral. I asked if that is what made my heart hurt and he said no. He said he thought it was either heartburn or my asthma. Perscribed Prilosec & a inhaler. Told me to lay off fatty foods and work out more. I did all of the following and it seemed to go away. Now I am having the same issues, I still take Prilosec & inhaler and honestly don't think that is doing anything for it, while it helps with what its for (asthma & heartburn). I was working out after the intial appt but have not been going for the past 6 mos due to a newborn baby. I have a fear that Im going to drop dead from a heart attack some day and have always had this fear. I know I dont eat the best, but I dont think I eat nothing but junk. Could this be anxiety? Would this cause pain? Any help or advice would be great, I cant afford to keep going to the Dr for blood tests if they are looking for the wrong thing. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Answeryour doc is right.... at your age, even with high cholesterol, this is not a pending heart attack..... reflux is still a possibility. If you are overweight and eating poorly, that can contribute to it.
You didn't elaborate on the fluttering but these are usually pretty annoying but harmless problems...... limiting heart irritants... cigarettes, alcohol, too much caffeine. Regular modest exercise. Even 20 minutes of walking daily....... You can continue to try over the counter Prilosec or zantac. Consider one of the diets (if overweight) such as the adkins diet (my favorite)
