Endometriosis and Tubal Ligation: A Personal Story & Considerations

Question
I was diagnosed with endomitriosis 10 years ago and had my first of 3 lap's.  I started having "problem periods" at age 12 but my mother never took me to a doctor.  Now I have been married to a loving man who can not handle the effects of the endo any more.  tried depo and many others before that now I'm taking norethindrone acetate which increased the depression which added prozac.  With a husband that can no longer take the "mood swings" we planned on having children but he doesn't think that we could handle it with the emotional sideeffects of the endo + the meds.  I want to try a tubal ligation before a complete historectomy.  any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Shannon
It's too bad your husband doesn't understand what you're going thru. I know, because I've been there. Its hard for anyone that's never been there to imagine. There are Endo Groups around the country, maybe your husband and you could attend one so he could better understand the pain that endo can cause and why! The depression and mood swings are just part of the disease.
Do you see a specialist for endo. I found a wonderful Doctor who specializes in Endo and fertility and he is very cool with all the symptoms I tell him about. He always nods his head saying oh yes, I know that you are feeling that way! My best medication was being on the Birth control pill. It helped the whole ball of wax...I was on it for 15 yrs, until I started with migraines  due to a fluxuation in my estrogen.
My best advice would be to get to a specialist and/or contact the Endo Research Center's website..they offer tons of help in alot of areas.
Don't know if I helped you at all. I truly wish you the best and hope that your husband can hang in there...unfortunately, men don't ever experience anything like a woman does!
