Mirena IUD Side Effects & Irregular Bleeding: A Patient's Experience

i fitted mirena after my second child in may 06. first few months i had more bleeding then my cycle went normal. but after an year periods vanished and then in oct 2008 i had breast pain followed my bleeding.then i got periods every month with some irregular pattern like soemtimes i had periods for 4-5 days , soemtimes its just spottign ,  sometime spotting continued whole month sometimes no period at all. in jan 09 i went to gp she examined and noticed mild thrush. i went for scan in july 09 and report was clear. my periods r still irregular soemtimes they r totally missed,  sometimes only spotting, sometimes lasted for 10 days . i feel cramps in lower abdomen before periods which vanish after getting periods. but the month in which periods r missed i feel continuous pain in lower abdomen. soemtimes i also feel pain in breat. when last year i went to gp she examined and said coil is in place also checked breast and cervical screening etc. plz tell me what to do. is it all normal?

I am not a doctor but have done much research on this subject. I would recommend to have the mirena taken out and give your body some time to rest. Do you need to be on birth control at this time? Sometimes you have to use your own opinion and feelings and insist on what you think is best for your body. You can do research on the internet by going to http://www.goodsearch.com and then put in "side effects of mirena" or other searches similar.
