Questioni am 34 weeks and 2 days. i am kind of stressed because i feel that i am going to go into labor early.what are the chances that that can happen. i am a first time mom. also concerned about when going into labor that i might have gas or have any bowel movements. what are those chances??
AnswerIt's normal to get anxious as you approach the end of pregnancy. Try to relax, and focus on doing things you may not have time for after the baby comes (like sleep!), or on preparing baby's room.
Unless you have some medical condition that might result in preterm labor, you shouldn't worry about it too much. Unexplained preterm labor happens sometimes, but not often, and most of the time you would have had a bout of it before now.
As for bowel movements during labor, many moms report having diarrhea during early and active labor. The contractions of labor can put pressure on the bowels, plus the body has a natural tendency to clean things out and make room for the passage of the baby. During the pushing stage, if you haven't cleared your bowels out already, you may expel some feces. Don't worry about it. You probably won't notice it if you do, and rest assured that your birth attendants have seen it many times before...and will probably have it cleaned up before you realize it.
Good luck!
