Postpartum Bleeding: What to Expect & When to Seek Medical Advice

Question
i had a normal delivery with my son, (born 7th october) and have resumed my menstual cycle, the question is, how long does this last? it has now been 3 weeks and i am still bleeding really really heavily, i have dizzy spells and am now getting tingling in my lower legs. i am starting to feel very drained and am tired all the time. my son is great, and luckily, is very well behaved.

Answer
I recommend you see your doctor as soon as possible- as in today or tomorrow. If you cannot see your doctor, you need to go to the hospital. In addition, if you are soaking 3 or more menstrual pads per day, you also need to go to the emergency room. Three weeks is way too long to be bleeding heavily and especially when you're experiencing those symptoms.

Please let me know if I can help you further or with anything else.

Best wishes,
Helen
