Rib Pain During Pregnancy: Causes, Relief & What to Expect
QuestionI am approx. 7 months pregnant and am experiencing frequent pain under my ribs. Is this normal and if so what can I do to ease the pain?
AnswerThis can be normal, as the baby grows and put more and more pressure on your body. Fixing it is usually as simple as adjusting your posture. If you tend to slouch, even a little, you are basically letting your ribcage rest on top of your baby, which can cause pain from the pressure. Sit up straight, and let your belly drop between your thighs a little bit. This will give your baby more room, lift your ribcage off your uterus, and encourage your baby to assume an optimal position. You can also try doing pelvic rocks in sets of 40 several times a day. This will jiggle the baby and encourage proper position, as well as jiggle your uterus and help everything settle into a more comfortable configuration.
