I'm sorry I don't know where you live. Every place is different for massage therapy. I live in Canada, Saskatchewan specifically so I would only be able to tell you about that. If you let me know your general area I can help youa little more.
sorry about that,
follow up....we live in jackson, ms. (miss.))
AnswerI'm sorry I really don't know anything about massage in the USA. I wish I could help you further. As far as I understand its about 500 hours down in the USA, but where I'm from its 3000 hours. My best advice on massage though that I can answer is that. You need to keep your body healthy and in good shape. You really need to take care of yourself. As a massage therapist I'm very prone to carpal tunnel and all those fun aches and pains that come with it. Tendonitis, and a sore back are some others things.
As a plus you get to meet so many people and hear all sorts of stories about they're lives and at the same time you get to make them feel better. You work your own hours and you can charge as you please. I've worked in a chiropractor clinic and now I work at a spa. There are also so many different types of massage too. Some examples of what I do are. Relaxation, therapeutic, hot stone, thai, sports and some pregnancy. Its a great career and is very quickly moving up in the world as well as being one of the world's oldest medicines. I hope this helps with some of your questions. If you need anything else let me know. Good luck!
