Understanding Fibroglandular Changes & Breast Cancer Risk

My mammogram results say: Dense asymetric firboglandular changes are present with asymetric densities in the inner aspect of both breasts, with scattered punctate calcifications throughout each breasts. In view of dense asymmetric fibroglandular changes, multiple calcifications and positive family history of breast cancer, conparison of previous films is essential.  They drew a CA125 and requested my films. I have a cyst about 10 years old, but it is no problem. Last report was OK. Should I be worried? I'm starting to panic.  Please help. I truly appreciate any advice. ang

To interpret dense breasts with mammography is DIFFICULT! I therefore suggest that your mammograms should be complemented with ultrasound breast scans AND - even more important - MRI breast scans! If they are ok, you most probably are too! Any unclear seen lesion in your breasts should be checked with at least needle biopsies! DEMAND these things!
