Marvelon 21: Extended Bleeding & Pill Concerns - Community Discussion

Question
hi there:

a couple of questions. i read in a previous post that someone took birth control for three months and had their period for 6 weeks. has that ever happened to anyone else? i am on marvelon 21 and i have done 2 months before with no problems. would three months be a problem? also, i was planning to skip my period this month. i finished saturday and took one pill sunday. actually, i missed the last pill in the previous pack, so i took the last pill and the first pill together on sunday.  if i don't take anymore pills now, will i get my period as usual this week? or has the cycle already started. i have always gotten my period on the wednesday after i finish my pills on saturday and had sex in between those days with no reprecussions b/c i am not ovulating. so if i don't take anymore pills now and wait for my period, should everything be as usual? what should i do at this point. i don't want to continue with 2 months in a row, b/c then i am on my period when i am on vacation. so it is either 3 months, or wait for my period now.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks so much :)

Answer
Anything can happen when you try to skip your period using the pill. Sometimes you are able to skip your period and other times you have breakthrough bleeding. If you decide to skip your period your period may come anyways, or be late next time. The important thing is that you take your pills everyday at the same time.
