QuestionHi. My partner has a medical condition (hemangioma with glaucoma) that prohibits her taking oral contraceptives. We have tried various types of condoms but find nothing but frustration from their use--I cannot get an orgasm when using them.
We have settled on having intercourse only during a two or three day window around the start of her menstrual cycle. Web research indicates this has better than a 1% yearly birth control failure rate if used faithfully.
Do you think that this is an infallible method of birth control? If not, how can you explain how a fertilized egg can attach and grow while the uteral lining is being shed?
Thank you in advance for your help.

AnswerThose 3 days at the beginning of her cycle are quite safe. The last week - 10 days after she ovulates are also quite safe. I recommend you learn Natural Family Planning to understand all that is needed to practice this art. You are lucky she CAN'T take the pill because it has brought you to this place of doing something that is better for both of you.
