QuestionHi Diane,
How are you?
Thanks for being an expert on here and helping us out :)
The way nuva ring typically works (and this is how ive been doing it since i first started and ive been on it for quite a while now) is you leave it in 3 wks, take it out while u have your period and after the 28 day cycle is up, you put in the next cycle's nuva ring.
Well, I was at planned parenthood not too long ago and the nurse said it would be ok for me NOT to take it out the 3rd week and bypass my period entirely. Obviously this sounds like a blessing not having to deal with tampons, bleeding, pads, im guessing it alleviates menstrual symptoms as well. And I could definitely live w/o the munchies and fatigue!
However, I am terrified of going too much against nature, b/c the drug world is pretty scary to me and long term consequences may be unpredictable which makes it hard for me to trust any nurse.
What is your take on this?
And where is a good trusted site for unbiased non-pharmaceutical company conflict of interest information with a sort of natural perspective in mind?
thanks so much!
regards,
Aly
AnswerHi Aly,
Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical doctor so I advise you to check with your doctor if you have a private one. I don't agree, personally, with birth control at all. So in my opinion, I would not recommend keeping the nuva ring in and skipping your period. I am one who recommends natural things as much as possible. I don't recommend any birth control methods that are hormonal. I would love to talk to you more about this if you email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and I don't know the answer to the site that you have asked me about. I'll try to do some research on this.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
