Understanding the Last Row of Birth Control Pills: What You Need to Know
QuestionI am on Trivora and I have heard that the last row of pills aren't "active." What does that mean, exactly? Does it mean I don't really have to take them? The reason I ask is because I recently went to camp and forgot the box I am on and just the last 4 pills were all that were left. I have 6 more packs and I can just jump on those, so it's not that big of a deal. Your answer is greatly appreciated.
Extra info, if needed:
I am 15
6'2''
approximately 175 lbs. (Has been going up and down due to stress and what not at school and the pill)
AnswerHi Tree,
I'm not a medical doctor so I always advise to talk to you doctor. According to my research, the last 7 pills would just be reminder pills to keep you taking a pill every day to keep you in the habit.
But I can't tell for sure over the internet so that is my disclaimer. You should be ok, in my opinion. However, I don't ever recommend any kind of hormonal birth control because of side effects and risks. I can give you more information on these if you email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com. Weight gain or loss could be from stress or could be from the hormones. At your age, is it really necessary for you to be on birth control? Please let me know by asking a followup question or emailing me.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
