Cerazette Side Effects: Bleeding & Leg Pain - Seeking Medical Advice

hi Diane,

i am 27 year old, i have been taking cerazette for 5 months now.  i didnt have bleeding nor spotting for these 5 months. On August 20, 2008 i started to bleed, it was like a normal period. bleeding was for 4-5 days and still i am spotting. can u tell me is it normal and how many more days this might continue and it is necessary to see doctor for this.  my second problem, suddenly since one week i am experiencing pain and slight swelling in my left leg, it started from my thigh and now has radiated to below knee. is it somehow related to thrombosis, is it an side effect of Cerazette, should i consult doctor or i will have to stop cerazette. plz help me by advising me wat i got to do.

Thanks for your question. I can't diagnose over the internet but I would advise you to see your doctor. If you are bleeding for too long, you could develop anemia, so please take care of your health.
The pain and swelling could be unrelated--it's hard for me to tell but that also needs to be taken care of at the doctor. I would recommend stopping the birth control pills. Is it possible to go on another method of birth control, not hormonal. Or practice abstinence. I don't know your story so I hesitate to advise about those kind of things but just my thoughts.
