Persistent Bleeding After Depo Shot and Morning-After Pill Use: What to Do?

Question
I had my first shot at the end of July and my second shot was due towards the end of October. However, about 2 weeks before the shot was due I started bleeding everyday like my period but it never stopped. I got the shot a few days later, as well as the morning after pill because the condom broke. This was on October 13, and the bleeding from the last 2 weeks of September continued until today, November 13. So I have been bleeding daily for about 6 weeks. Some days it's heavy, some days it's not, but I can guarantee that everyday there will be blood. I don't know what this means, and my doctor told me to get the Depo shot again, but I don't think that's going to help. I already have so much hormones inside, how is depo supposed to help? I don't know if this could mean a miscariage, an ectopic pregnancy, or even polycycstic ovary syndrome or however that is spelled. I'm concerned and I want this bleeding to stop. The pill has caused a lot of mood swings and weight gain and honestly I'm sick of it. I want my cycle to go back to normal for a while and I don't think the shot is going to help. I want to switch to the Ring, but I don't know if that will make me continue to bleed, or if I should just stop all together for about a little while to let things go back to normal. Please help me out with this. I have talked to my health care provider but like I said, they just say more Depo and I have an appointment this week. Thanks.

Answer
Christine,

I'm sorry that I was just able to get your question today. Please let me know what happened on your appointment. I wish I could have contacted you sooner because I would have agreed with you about stopping everything for a little while to get things back to normal.
I am concerned also about your continued bleeding and I would think a doctor would be as well.

Please let me know what happens. You can contact me personally at CHERYL51@aol.com so we can talk more and I can get an update.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
