Post-Birth Control Cycle Irregularities: What to Expect

I got off birthcontrol 6 months ago.  I was on it for 4 years.  We are trying to conceive and the first couple months my cycle was 28- 32 days apart then 48 then last month was 38 which I thought ok maybe it is regular now at 38 and this month I am on my 42 day and haven't had a period.  I am not sure if I am pregnant but If I am not I am wondering when I should expect my periods to be normal again.  I have heard 3 months or so but now it is my 6th month.  I am getting frustrated with this because I don't know when I am ovulating or anything.  Please help

I suspect you are either not ovulating or not ovulating regularly.  I would see an OB/GYN doctor to help evaluate this and then treat it.  It's usually a simple treatment of a pill called Clomid daily for 5 days each month to help you ovulate.  Good luck.
