Thanks,
jll
ANSWER: It's fairly easy to time your periods with the birth control pill. I would start the pill when this period starts. Stop taking the active pills about 8 days before your honeymoon. Stopping the pill will bring on your period. It should be over within 1 week, and certainly when you start a new pack, should you choose to do so.

QUESTION: Dear DR Norman,
you advised me to Stop taking the active pills about 8 days before my honeymoon to bring it sooner so can i take the pills for 18 days and in the last 3 days i can 2 tablets so i will take the whole 21 tablets ?
regards,
jll
ANSWER: jll,
There's no reason to take more than 1 tablet per day. If you stop the pills early, just save the pills to have extra pills, in case you ever need extras.

AnswerYou're correct that if you take the pill for less than 21 days, you're at risk of ovulating and becoming pregnant. Taking extra pills won't help, because the important part is taking a pill for at least 21 days. You could try just skipping the inactive pills at the end of the current pack and starting in a new pack. Sometimes that works, and sometimes there will be some breakthrough bleeding. You'd be more sure of not having your period during your honeymoon by doing it the way I first recommended, but then you'd have to use backup until you were back on the pill for 7 days.
